Childcare on Campus

Bright Beginnings is a purpose built, multi award-winning Outstanding childcare facility based on the University of Leeds campus. The Centre has the capacity to care for up to 144 children from 3 months to 4 years, and can accommodate an additional 56 school-aged children during holiday periods, from Monday to Friday 8:00am – 6:00pm.

Bright Beginnings is one of the few Centres across the country to maintain its Outstanding Ofsted grading for 2 consecutive inspections, most recently in August 2019. The Centre is held in the highest esteem within the Leeds Local Authority thanks to its impressive success rates both with Ofsted and the continued achievements of the children who leave the Centre to start school. During the 2018/2019 academic year, Bright Beginnings sent all children to school either achieving or exceeding the expected level of achievement according to the curriculum.

It’s because of achievements like this that when approached by Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Early Years’ office, Leeds City Council had no difficulty in recommending Bright Beginnings as the Centre of choice for her visit to Leeds. Therefore during her summer 2019 guest speaker visit to an early years conference held in the city, she made a special stop at the Centre to meet the staff and children and visit Bright Beginnings’ wonderful facility.

Bright Beginnings offers a beautifully diverse and welcoming environment with highly trained, wonderfully passionate members of staff, wholly committed to the care, education and welfare of young children. The Centre’s investment in its staff is really something that sets it apart from other providers, ensuring Bright Beginnings is leading the way with current and forward thinking practices. Bright Beginnings uses the expertise at its disposal within the University to broaden its experiences and those of the children, and happily facilitate research projects - leading the way for future best practice and idea sharing.

The benefit of sending a child to Bright Beginnings is seen in the opportunities each child receives, the great start each child has in preparation for their school journey, and the continuing investment made into experiences for each child.
